GEHLA S. KNIGHT
Gehla Knight serves the legal community with trial consultation, case evaluation, innovative settlement strategies and continuing education. More than 31 years experience in civil and criminal litigation as field investigator, paralegal, law firm administrator, trial assistant, negotiator, claim manager and litigation manager for Continental, Nationwide, Travelers, Guardian Royal Exchange UK and KinderCare Learning Centers, provide a depth of background and skills unique to the field of trial consulting from both the plaintiff and defense aspect.
A Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University and post graduate studies in criminal justice and psychology as well as a varied background in both plaintiff and defense spheres bring a special insight to the trial and settlement process. Participation in more than 500 jury trials in state and federal venues, extensive post- trial reviews, scores of mediation and arbitrations formulates litigation strategy and provides a strong understanding of jury mechanics, thematic appeals, courtroom conduct, examination techniques and case evaluation.
Gehla Knight specializes in developing successful trial themes; opening statements and closing arguments; case evaluation and witness preparation. Her diverse knowledge of courtroom techniques and hands-on trial experience are testament to her success with the most challenging projects.
R. A. PORTERFIELD
R. A. Porterfield began his career as a multi-line adjuster in 1959. Prior to joining GSK CONSULTANTS, LLC in 2003, he served as Branch Manager, Executive General Adjuster and Vice President of Maxon Young Associates, Inc., a global adjusting firm handling multi-million dollar, complex property and casualty losses for national and international insurors including Lloyd's of London.
A Kansas City native, he attended the University of Missouri and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1969, where he acted as supervisor, claim manager and branch manager for major insurors before opening his own adjusting company. His experience encompasses a vast range of loss adjusting and coverage analyses.
Mr. Porterfield is a member of and past president of the Oregon Casualty Adjusters Association, former vice president of the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters and a current member of the National General Adjusters Association. He is licensed in the state of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
